A love affair
Paul Saxton, the man behind it all has dedicated the last 30 years to find forever and in some cases a better home for these dogs. Paul has personally owned Shar Pei since the early 1980s.
I was given a puppy in lieu of an unpaid debt. I remember seeing this little creature walk towards me and it was love at first sight. The breed has been in my heart and mind ever since. For me, Shar Pei equals loyalty. Every day that I walk my Pei, Luna, we walk with 12 of them, each with their place in my heart. They never leave you; they are loyal to the end. I remember a very special Pei called Sally that nobody wanted due to her aggressive behaviour. At the end of our time together she fought her renal failure like a bull elephant to stay with me.
Well respected by Shar Pei friendly veterinarians across the UK, Paul is the initial Shar Pei rescue contact for both the RSPCA and Battersea Dogs Home. Paul is recognised by the RSPCA, PDSA, PDSA Handsworth Hospital and all UK Council Dog Wardens as a breed rescuer. He’s also been a Shar Pei breed advisor for Channel 4’s ‘It’s Me or the Dog’.
Paul also holds diplomas in alternative organic animal therapy. Here are some great tips he has shared over the years
Paul and Linda are amazing but so are all of the foster carers that take these beautiful pups into their homes and make them who they are.
